The Montessori Method of education was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman to receive a medical degree in Italy. As a young doctor, her persistent interest in the needs of children eventually led to the opening of “Casa dei Bambini” in the slums of Rome. Using a concrete multi-sensory approach, her unique teaching methods achieved remarkable success and recognition from such peers as Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell.
